Best Canvas Chrome Extensions for Students (2026)

Disclosure: Canvas Ninja built this list and our extension is #1. We've also tried to be honest about what each other extension is best at — none of them are bad, they just solve different problems. The point of this list isn't to pretend Canvas Ninja wins every category; it's to help you pick the right tool.

How to read this list: these extensions are grouped in one guide because they work with Canvas, not because they are interchangeable. Canvas Quiz Solver, Quizard AI, and Wizard overlap with CanvasNinja's AI-answer feature. BetterCampus is a complementary Canvas productivity extension.

Method: We verified each description against the product's official website or Chrome Web Store listing on July 31, 2026. Publisher claims are labeled as such; missing features are described as “not advertised” rather than assumed absent.

1. Canvas Ninja — Broadest Canvas quiz feature set

What it does: Blocks Canvas quiz log tracking (Privacy Guard), gives AI answers inside the quiz tab (Smart Answers), and auto-fills answers across retakes (Answer Saver).

Pros:

  • Combines Canvas-specific privacy controls, in-page AI help, and answer-saving tools.
  • Lifetime pricing ($67.99 once) instead of subscription-only.
  • 30-day refund on Lifetime — the only extension in this list with one.

Con: Canvas-only. If you use Blackboard or Moodle, this doesn't help you there.

Pricing: $16.99/mo or $67.99 lifetime (Chrome install is free; pay on activation).

2. BetterCampus (formerly BetterCanvas) — Best for Canvas productivity

What it does: Upgrades the broader Canvas experience with themes and dark mode, dashboard customization, to-dos, grade tools, and study features. BetterCampus Pro also advertises task planning, calendar sync, flashcards/study sets, and AI notes.

Pros:

  • Genuinely makes Canvas itself nicer to use — themes, dashboard customization, full-featured planner.
  • Grade tools and a customizable dashboard.
  • Free basics; the current Pro plan adds broader planning and study tools.

Con: Does nothing about quiz log tracking — that's not what it's for.

Pricing: Free + Pro.

3. Canvas Quiz Solver — Focused Canvas answer button

What it does: Adds a "Get Answer" button next to each Canvas quiz question. AI generates the answer in-place.

Pros:

  • Its Chrome Web Store listing advertises $4.99/month for unlimited access.
  • The listing says it works on Canvas quiz questions, not quizzes hosted by third-party tools.
  • Per-question UX is simple and obvious.

Con: Doesn't block quiz log tracking — if you tab away to verify anything, you still leave entries.

Pricing: $4.99/month according to its current Chrome Web Store listing; verify at checkout.

4. Quizard AI — Best for multi-LMS students

What it does: A general AI study assistant that can answer from screenshots, highlighted text, or typed questions across Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Google Classroom, and other sites.

Pros:

  • Cross-platform — one tool covers all your LMS needs.
  • Offers explanations, follow-up questions, and related resources.
  • Useful beyond Canvas because it accepts multiple question-input methods.

Con: It is a separate multi-site workflow, not a Canvas-specific replacement for CanvasNinja's full feature set.

Pricing: Limited free use; Quizard advertises Pro for unlimited use. Check its current checkout for price.

Name check: This refers to Quizard AI at quizard.ai, not the separate study platform at quizard.io.

5. Wizard — Another Canvas-specific AI helper

What it does: Its Chrome Web Store listing describes a button beside Canvas quiz questions, a sidebar for answers and explanations, plus rewriting and summarizing tools.

Pros:

  • Built for Canvas specifically (not multi-LMS).
  • Free trial available.
  • Also advertises explanations and general writing utilities.

Con: Its public listing was last updated in December 2024 and does not document Canvas quiz-log controls. Treat “undetectable” language in its listing as a publisher claim, not an independently verified guarantee.

Pricing: A 48-hour trial is advertised; verify the current paid price before subscribing.

Why students trust Canvas Ninja

How we picked the ranking

Three criteria, in this order: (1) does it solve a real Canvas-student problem, (2) is the team active and the extension updated for 2026, (3) does the pricing make sense.

The reason Canvas Ninja is #1 is that the "real Canvas-student problem" we put first is the quiz log — and no other extension in this list touches it. Productivity tweaks are nice; an AI answer button is useful; but if your quiz log shows ten "Stopped viewing the Canvas quiz-taking page" entries, the AI answer doesn't save you. Privacy Guard does.

If your situation is different — your quiz log doesn't get reviewed, you want a planner, you use Blackboard too — one of the other four is probably a better fit. We linked each comparison page above so you can dig in.
