Learn about Canvas NinjaFAQ
- How does this differ from my college's GPA calc?
- This uses the standard US 4.0 unweighted scale. Some schools use 4.3 (giving an A+ value above 4.0), some use plus/minus only at certain grades, and some weight AP/IB/Honors courses with +0.5 or +1.0. Check your school's exact scale; this tool works for the most common case.
- Does pass/fail count?
- Pass/fail courses typically don't factor into GPA at most schools. Leave them out (or set credit hours to 0).
- How are repeated courses handled?
- Depends on your school's repeat policy. Some only count the higher grade; some average both. This tool just calculates what you enter — check your registrar's rules and enter accordingly.
- Why doesn't this match Canvas's GPA?
- Canvas usually shows individual course grades, while your registrar applies institutional rules to calculate an official transcript GPA. Read how to find your grades and GPA, then use this tool as an estimate.
